Bioaccumulation of Heavy Metals in Mackerel and Red Hybrid Tilapia Collected from Kijal and Paka, Terengganu, Malaysia

The major goal of this study is to determine the bioaccumulation heavy metals in tissues and bones Red Hybrid Tilapia <i>(Oreochromis niloticus)</i> Mackerel <i>(Rastrelliger kanagurta)</i> taken from two distinct sites Terengganu state, Malaysia, namely Kijal Paka. Zinc (Zn), copper (Cu), nickel (Ni), lead (Pb)were examined. Soil analysis also was carried out for same elements. fishes were separated before further made. Drying process technique used moisture content all samples at 80 °C 24 hours. Water ranged between 70 & 77%. Triplicate evaluated by using Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometer (AAS) find concentration. Oven Teflon beakers fully digest solid 120 <sup>o</sup>C 3 Highest readings Zn, Ni Pb found fish bone collected both mentioned locations. However, different pattern noticed Cu where higher values samples. Values than acceptable value edible Food Agriculture Organization (FAO); 1 ppm Malaysian Act (MFR) World Health (WHO); 2 ppm, whereas Cu, Zn range set organizations. No recommended MFR. In general locations can be sorted descending order as follows; Pb>Zn>Cu>Ni. showed high concentration followed then Ni. Moreover soil Paka River elements compared Kijal. More investigation needed clarify whether contamination solely industry or due geology area.
